"In the post-meditative experience become a child of illusion" is a slogan from the Tibetan mind training tradition. We engage the world as we experience it all the while realizing that reality is not as it seems to be.

This time it's Ethel
It is with great sadness that I tell you that Ethel was hit by a car last night and died almost instantly.
She had been depressed with the loss of Edgar and was not eating. I can only surmise that she was not at her best and therefore momentarily lost her usual street smarts.
I'm still in a state of shock. It's hard to believe that I lost them both in the span of six days.
But I'm glad they are together now. Somehow I can't imagine Ethel being happy without Edgar. Now she has joined him.
Even though she would rarely let me touch her, I loved her very much.
Good-bye, dear Ethel. May you rest in peace.
Dear Ellie, I'm so sorry to hear of both your losses... I lost my beloved Michael (a mixed breed 12-year-old dog) to coronary artery disease just about a month ago. The loss is hard... the house is very empty without him.
ReplyDeleteKnow that many people hold you in prayer. Blessings,
Mags
Ellie, I am so very sorry. Over the years, we have lost not a few pets and it hurts, hurts, hurts. I will pray for you.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that Ethel and Edgar are together again.
I am so sorry. What a horrible loss but I can imagine Ellie is chasing butterflys and sleeping with Edgar.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about the loss of your cats. When I was young, I had evangelical guilt regarding how much I loved my cats and dogs. Now, I get to celebrate in the beauty and joy that they bring to life and I pray that you will have many memories to celebrate.
ReplyDeletePeace of Christ
Ellie -- how terribly heartbreaking for you! It's hard enough to lose one pet, but two within a week is just awful. I do share your opinion, though, that Ethel and Edgar are with each other again, and I hope they are roaming the happy hunting grounds together. Blessings to you during this time of grief.

I am glad that Ethel and Edgar are together; when Edgar died I wondered in the previous post how she would survive without him. HOw fortunate for people that we can share our grief with others.
ReplyDeleteEllie, we share your grief and feel just a small part of the emptiness your heart must be feeling.
Ellie,
ReplyDeleteSo sad to hear of this.
Peace & prayers,
Ellie,
ReplyDeleteI've never been to your site before, except MadPriest sent me here.
I'm so very, very sad and sorry for your loss.
Take the time to grieve them both. Cry and cry and cry until you think you can't cry another tear and then you may still find yourself weeping.
When you are done (and only when you are done), wipe your tears, blow your nose, pull up your socks and get on with the business of asking God to send you new members for your family.
Yes, it's wonderful to think of them together again, but don't move too quickly through your grief. It is part of the way we honor the importance and magnitude of the loss of our loved ones.
Know, in the midst of the worst of your tears, that you are being sustained in prayer - even by those who have never met you - or Edgar or Ethel.
Ellie, I'm so sorry. Somehow I'm not surprised that they would pass so nearly together, but how hard for you.
ReplyDeleteI'm sad with you and holding you in the Light in your losses.
Love, Sally Lloyd
