ReplyDeleteApple's factories in China are routinely accused of human rights abuses. Jobs was more than willing to exploit cheap labor to pad his bottom line. When he returned to Apple in 1997, Jobs cut off the philanthropy program and it was never resurrected. And don't get me started on Jobs' bullying personality, or his apparent uneasiness with a free press -- ask Nick Ciarelli what happened to him when he was only 19.
I believe that the capitalist system requires a certain ruthlessness to rise to the top. That's why I am so suspicious of the wealthy, and I, for one, am not afraid to say so. So when Begala says, "We Americans admire financial success" I would prefer that he speak for himself.
