Sheer callousness

Well, the White House is putting its energy into containing the political damage from its shameful response to Hurricane Katrina. This New York Times article, "White House Enacts a Plan to Ease Political Damage", explains how:

Under the command of President Bush's two senior political advisers, the White House rolled out a plan this weekend to contain the political damage from the administration's response to Hurricane Katrina.

It orchestrated visits by cabinet members to the region, leading up to an extraordinary return visit by Mr. Bush planned for Monday, directed administration officials not to respond to attacks from Democrats on the relief efforts, and sought to move the blame for the slow response to Louisiana state officials, according to Republicans familiar with the White House plan.

The effort is being directed by Mr. Bush's chief political adviser, Karl Rove, and his communications director, Dan Bartlett.

So Karl Rove is at it with his dirty tricks even on this issue. The callousness simply defies description.

We all know it is easier to blame, or in this case, smear someone else, rather than say, "It was my fault." This is another reason why it seems better to donate to LouisianaRecovery@la.gov or
www.katrina.louisiana.gov/donate.htm rather than something that bush&co can get their hands on. This money stays in Louisiana and is under the administration of Gov Blanco. This is found at democraticunderground in their archieves from Sept 4. I've worked on compassion for bush; I am incapable at this to do it for Rove. Marilyn
