Today's QuickVote

This suprises me, actually. It's from the CNN web site:

Should the federal government push BP aside and take over the Gulf oil spill cleanup?

No - 56%
Yes - 44%

Seems to me that BP is making a dog's breakfast of the whole thing. And the stakes are very high indeed.

  1. I am truly shocked at those numbers, dang.

As someone who formerly formally studied Pet.E for 3 yrs and then bailed to geology & math, I can tell you to NEVER believe anything an oil company says. N.E.V.E.R!

  2. I read an article in the local newspaper here that the government cannot step in and take over any polluting scenario, it's prohibited by law... I'll see if I can find the article and cite the source...

  3. In an Associated Press article dated 24 May 2010, Coast Guard Commandant Thad Allen was quoted as saying, "federal law dictated that BP had to operate the cleanup, with the government overseeing its efforts."
