Class act, Mr. President!

Just look:

Sandra Fluke Receives Call From Obama After Rush Limbaugh 'Slut' Comments

Here's part of what it says:

The call came a day after conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh demanded that Fluke release tapes of her having sex in exchange for the contraception that she argued should be covered by employers. Fluke was set to go on MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell Reports when the president rang her on her phone. She took the call while waiting in the green room.

"He encouraged me and supported me and thanked me for speaking out about the concerns of American women," she told Mitchell, who received permission from the White House to discuss the exchange between Fluke and Obama. "What was really personal for me was that he said to tell my parents that they should be proud. And that meant a lot because Rush Limbaugh questioned whether or not my family would be proud of me. So I just appreciated that very much."

I must say, I'm seriously impressed.

Unbelievable...we know he (limbaugh) has seriously crossed the line when even some of his republican allies are calling him out and advertisers are pulling their sponsorship. When he finally gets fired, maybe he will get it.

  2. This story was on NPR yesterday evening and they were interviewing a woman who works for a national conservative organization (can't remember her name or org.) and Steve Inskeep asked her about Limbaugh's comments. She noted that the vast majority of women in this country were utterly appalled at what he said, and what he implies, regardless of where they stand politically. And that they're going to want to see their candidates publicly denouncing what Limbaugh has said to show they do not agree. I wonder if any of the R candidates will take a stand...

  5. Here's an update, ladies, that was just published in the New York Times. Believe it or not, he has apologized:

    Rush apology

  6. Another update: I just read the article and he apologized for his "word choice". Doesn't sound like much of a real apology to me. (Not surprising.)
