In case you've been living under a rock for the last five years, Gene Robinson is the openly gay Episcopal bishop of New Hampshire whose election has been so controversial world wide. He offered a prayer for the opening Inauguration event Sunday evening and later appeared on The Daily Show:
Jon Stewart: Washington was so crowded today, there's so many people... You, as a bishop, are sort of doubly handicapped in that situation, only being able to move diagonally. How is that negotiating the crowds?
Bishop Gene Robinson: Jon, you have to understand...there's a queen on the board as well.
Rich. Just rich!!
I stayed up to watch that episode after rehearsal and Bishop Robinson's comment made me laugh really, really hard. I heard him preach last November, and his sermon made me think. I love that he is able to poke some fun at himself on national television.
