Abso-freakin'-lutely:

Take a look:

"Politics have no place in health care. We should be helping women access that care, not placing barriers in their way."

-- MICHAEL BLOOMBERG, Mayor of New York, after the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation pulled grants supporting breast cancer screenings from Planned Parenthood; Bloomberg offered to match new contributions to Planned Parenthood up to $250,000

I cannot understand what their motive for this could be...it seems as if they are shooting themselves in the foot.

  2. They're trying to placate the so-called "pro-life" folks by refusing to fund anything Planned Parenthood does. It's crazy, of course...

  3. I've never understood how people can be so staunchly pro-life, but then be against all social programs that would support a child born to a woman/girl who is unable to care for that child. Women don't have abortions on a whim...it's not like getting your belly button pierced or your hair cut. It's usually the last resort because they see no other way out.

I must say, I'm really disappointed in the Komen foundation for this. Cutting funding from an organization that provides so much good care for those who can't afford health insurance? This is going to cost them many more supporters than it will win them. Hurrah for politicians like Michael Bloomberg!
