Roman Catholicism and women priests

Pathetic. Just pathetic:

I think they see us as their worst nightmare.

-- BRIDGET MARY MEEHAN, one of five American women who say they have been ordained as Catholic bishops, on revisions to Vatican-issued internal laws that make it easier to discipline sexually abusive priests but state that ordaining female priests is as grave a sin as pedophilia

You know, I get it that they don't approve of women priests but how can they say it's a "grave" sin when we've had women priests in Anglicanism since 1976 and the sky hasn't fallen yet? And does the Vatican have any idea how this statement comes across as trivializing child abuse?

  1. Hello Ellie, (I like your blog title...)

After this latest pronouncement, is there is any doubt that this is a truly psychotic organization? The Vatican's reasons for maintaining its bizarre stances against women are both deeply ancient and completely deceptive.

The Vatican is being set up for a much bigger fall than most are expecting. These unfolding scandals and debacles are merely proof of their absolute lack of veracity, before the real controversy is unsealed. I am the proverbial horse's mouth and I am now gifting you with the Vatican's worst nightmare, now realized. Here's an early peek for parties like yourself, who are more likely to make good use of the information.

  2. One of the many reasons why I don't like organized religion of any denomination.

  3. I can't say that I blame you, Dave. I tend to feel that way myself fairly often these days.

Also, thanks for your comment, Seven Star Hand. I looked at some of your material and experienced it as pretty heavy duty. I'll go back to it, though, and try again!

To compare a woman priest to a pedophile is the greatest insult to women I may have heard yet.

Wow, Ellie ... I see these words and I want to say, THAT'S IT! Women, desert the Roman Church en masse, and all men of wise conscience do as well! How can any person truly worship, celebrate, mourn, pray and otherwise focus on That Which sustains us, when so much depraved thinking, acting, and acting-out is constantly fouling the way to Spirit?

I left the Anglican church 26 years ago -- largely because this became my experience. People from the priests on down were more concerned about the altar ladies' perpetual bickering and backstabbing; the schisms that *they themselves* were hacking open in the Church over "issues" like who humans lovingly share our private parts with ... and, of course, the ever overarchng, bombastic and toxic bullshit spewing from the powers that were onto all of us. Plus, my own parish priest stared at my chest, rather than looking into my eyes, when we were in conversation. Fucking pervert.

I've had loved ones excommunicated / exiled / shunned because, for example, they were "sexual abominations" / got pregnant out of wedlock / wanted to marry someone outside The Faith, etc., etc.

We humans are extremely tribal animals and I think we're all better off in small communities of our chosen, neighbourly and born-into kin. It seems that the farther we go from our origins and homes, the more we want to conquer and conquest others. Living locally may well become the new norm (see James Howard Kunstler's book "World Made by Hand" as an example) if we continue to poison the elements and life support systems of the planet.

Sorry, Ellie ... I'm on a rant ... I mean more than anything that if we have to live in the shadows of these befouled institutions (and they *all* are to some degree), we may as well do it as intentionally and as independently of them as we can. We all lose our way if we hand our minds over to "official" people and institutions for moral direction. Bigger is *not* better. Bigger -- and bigger, and BIGGER ... that's the philosophy of a cancer cell.

I cannot enter a church, temple, mosque or any other "official place of worship" without feeling my skin crawl. Like abusive parents who never let up, the clerics at the apex of the ecclesiastical pile fling out their judgments and perverse demands on all below ... and as far as the ordination of women being considered a more "grave sin" than the sodomizing and raping of children ... Under such an appalling proclamation, I don't know how *any* rational, ethical person can continue to have any alliance with the Roman Catholic Church.

  8. WOW, "Anonymous". That's a rant worthy of the name.

I want you on my side if I'm ever in a street fight.

(And I mean that as the highest of compliments...)
