Oh, the grandiosity

I found this on All Hat No Cattle:

Of course not. I remind them: I AM the law!

-- Attorney General Alberto Gonzales , denying that his two children ever download music illegally, after his address Tuesday to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on intellectual property theft.

Okay, this really may not qualify as grandiosity. Since he is their parent AND he is Attorney General, he pretty much is the law for his children. After all, didn't you think your parents were THE LAW when you were a kid? I know I certainly did.

  2. Yes, Anonymous. But if that's all he meant, he would have said it privately to his children. Ordinary discretion would dictate that he not say that publicly as it could so easily be misunderstood - you know, him being attorney general and all.

He probably wouldn't have said it publicly if he had not been asked publicly, by the press, if his children downloaded music illegally. I think this Republican administration has run our country and its credibility into the ground. It will take decades to repair the damage they have done if it can ever be repaired. On this one though, I really think the guy deseves a break. Even Republicans can make a joke now and then.
